Uncle $@m, a.k.a. Tha Thumbprint Killa and Sam-I-Am, is an independent rapper from Lansing, MI. He started recording at Elm Street Recording after he connected with Brian Ziegler, a.k.a. Young ZZ, of the local pop/rock band, After We Fall, in January 2010. With an entrepreneurial mind and spirit, he founded 517 Entertainment that same year. His rhyme schemes and style has been influenced by artists on mainstream radio such as Eminem, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Trick Trick, DMX, 50 Cent, KJ-52, T-Bone, Wu-Tang Clan, and Soulja Boy. "My style is best described as being hardcore, political, spiritual, up-beat, and personal," says Uncle $@m.
"If I'm to be placed in a specific hip hop category, I'd rather be referred to as an underground, independent, or Midwest rapper because I talk about all sorts of topics and I don't focus on one sub-genre of rap...I do several. It all goes by how I feel and what I've experienced at that point in time," says Uncle $@m.
Along with managing 517 Entertainment, Uncle $@m is also the proud owner of Sam's Cleaning and Maintenance and the former owner of Brooks Marketing Services located in Grand Ledge, MI.
Uncle $@m was nominated for the 2013 BOOM Awards Entrepreneur of the Year award on September 16th, 2013.
